This very rare and desirable 1964 “S2 Elan” has lived most of its life in sunnier climes and has recently under gone some major recommissioning by a previous owner. During this process he met the vendor that was selling a Manx Norton motorcycle, a deal was struck and the car became the vendors. He had been told that part of the work carried out was a rebuilt engine, but having had an S2 before he was not happy with the performance, so shipped it to the UK where a Lotus specialist stripped it revised the cylinder head, fitted a performance cam shaft and over hauled the cooling system “Now” the car is performing as it should. As you can see by the pictures, much work has taken place and many new parts fitted. Things like the headlamps actuators have been replaced by new ones, the inside trim has been upgraded by a specialist firm, the dynamo and control box are new and set to give 30amps, the rev counter and speedo were overhauled in UK as well. This is a running driving car that has a great engine, mechanics and chassis, needing just some minor recomissioning but as the vendor […]
This superb bit of German engineering was responsible for one of those rare moments in life when you discover something remarkable! There I was in a previous role as a classic car auction company owner and viewing an old MGC on a farm in Essex, when we drove down a country lane past what looked like an old church from a Hammer House of Horrors movie, that was obviously now in private hands judging by the assortment of old cars half covered by undergrowth out front and the big “Keep Out” signs. But after consulting with my colleague, who was more used to ignoring these things and knocking on doors, we drove in and pulled the doorbell chain. How surprised was I when a friend of mine from 20 odd years ago answered the door! That is how I know the entire history of this rare 1983 Porsche 928S. In April of that year a gent walked into a Porsche dealer ship, ordered a new 928S in Cliffton White and basically ticked all the option boxes, including not only things like a limited slip differential, sports suspension and an electric roof but also a special order only interior in red […]
Probably one of the prettiest V Dub Bay Window Campers on the market today. Having just undergone an 18 month program of improvements, the end result is as you can see. From its very expensive respray into period “Porsche Mint Green over 70’s VW white”. This was done after all areas of concern were addressed, including new metal replacement drivers side door step, seat belt mounts, sliding door outer sill, rear arch half panels. Then new rubber seals were fitted throughout, doors windows etc. New rear bumper and mounts. New chrome work and locks. Very expensive “Super light” alloys were fitted and low profile tyres, this with the lowered suspension on the Van and the colour, helped to obtain the “Cal Look” that the owner was aiming for. Inside the dash was colour coded, an expensive wood and ally steering wheel fitted and the front cab area resprayed. Seats were all in good order so just cleaned and re-padded where needed. A rather loud stereo utilising a Sony CD player, 2x Alpine 700W amps and a 10 Speaker surround sound system is fitted. The engine is a rebuilt 1600cc Twin Carb with lightweight aluminium fly wheel attached to which is […]
If you want cheap, best to stop reading now. This 1966 289 V8 Mustang with manual transmission has been subject to full restoration to the body, interior and mechanics and as such is rather nice! Now I could drone on about it, but what can you say about this American Icon that has not been said a million times before? Enough for you to just look at the pictures and if you’re seriously interested ask? Thanks. Located in Northern Spain, price is pounds in Spain(@ 1.12 ex rate). Easy access from Bilboa Airport or Ferry terminal if you wish to go and have a look.
Rare in the US, even more rare in Europe is this Limited Edition “007 Model” 2004 Thunderbird. Ford commissioned 700 only “worldwide” in this special Coral colouring to replicate the car driven by Halle Berry in the James Bond film “Die another Day” (the coral color is apparently the same colour as the Bikini she wore in the film I know, don’t ask??). As the title says, this rare and desirable Thunderbird was supplied new from the importers to Jonathan Ross (Google “Jonathan Ross Thunderbird” to see all the pictures). When the current owner received the car it had been stood unused for a time, the cosmetics had suffered and it had an engine fault that has since been rectified, along with a service that he carried out himself. The bright work on the outside of the car has been replaced so it’s now as new again and any small defects in the paintwork were professionally corrected. The interior needed little more than a good clean but the vendor had all the seats recolonised, he did however retain the tasteful Leopard print sun visors Mr Ross had fitted ! (See picture). What you now have is a mint, low mileage […]
Manufactured in 2003, the year that both Ford and Harley Davidson celebrated 100 years in business, they threw the lot at this superb truck. Beautiful black leather and chrome interior, fully loaded with reverse camera, heated seats etc etc (far too much to list) and with the “Supercharged” 5.4 Litre V8 under the hood, a claimed 0 – 60 time of 6 seconds!! That is damn quick in a truck this size running on normal pump fuel. Just as impressive and probably more important was the claimed 60 – 0 mph distance of just 126 feet! This lovely example was not registered new until 2007 so is on the later “56” plate and as you can see is in excellent all round condition and obviously is “fully loaded” one thing to note is you will see in the back the standard arm rest unit between the seats has been removed and very cleverly an extra seat has replaced it, giving it a 5 seater capacity, the owner does have the original if you wish to convert back. With only 51000 on the clock, it is not really even run in yet and the current owner has maintained it carefully, this […]
A Kia (Lotus) Elan is probably one of the rarest “Mass Produced” sports cars you will see! Back in 1995 when Lotus stopped production of the popular “M100 Elan”, Kia Motor Co. who at the time were planning to launch a sports car to enhance their growing range, purchased the rights to produce the Lotus Elan. Now knowing the Elan was already a successful car they basically changed the rear light units , added a few luxuries to the interior, dropped in a more powerful 150HP 1800cc naturally aspirated engine and then left the rest alone, sensible! With a production run of only 820 cars, to find one that is effectively as new in condition and with only 9000 warranted miles on the clock would be “Un-usual” to say the least, but that is what we have here. Specially imported by Kia UK in 1997 as a marketing tool, it sat on display until it was transferred to Kia of Maidstone and then in turn to one of their heads of department, the whole time not seeing the rain and covering just very low miles between services. Its brilliant red exterior is blemish free and after the years of cleaning, […]
Arrived with us and now under going a full restoration is this very rare “one year only” 1966 Bug (see http://www.1966vwbeetle.com/1966%20Model%20Year%20Changes.htm for full list of differences) Not only a rare model but also has total history from 1970 through to when last on the road in 2008. There are 3 folders full of bills and things like its old MOT certificates documenting its life while only having 2 former keepers in all that time. All this makes it a very special car and one that, although previously restored (photographic) deserved a complete make over by us. Work to date: New drivers side floor, heater chanel, rear frame hanger and rear wing . Replaced front to rear internal brake pipe, refurbished pedal assembly, new petrol tank and door hinges repaired along with lower door panels. Future work planed will consist of removal of any further rust using quality panels, a complete retrim in the up graded “basket weave” to the seating, new original door cards and roof lining. New chrome work through out and a fresh professional respray in the original blue ( this car even has the original supplying dealer sticker still in the back window!). Plus a full mechanical […]
