Just now arrived with us from another collection we have been asked to market on behalf of their owner (watch out for the 89 XJR-S, 72 Karmann Ghia and two further XJS’s that will be coming soon). A29 OAR came to him about a year ago, looking nice after obviously having quite a bit spent on it by a previous owner, but running poorly. With the fitment of a new fuel filter and a good but used metering head, the poor running was cured. About now the current owner thought he would like to drive it, usual story especially in Essex “ I had one of these when I was young, fast as hell, O- 100 in one second etc etc etc ;-)” But he was (a bit) smaller back then and just does not fit so along with the others that are too small, it’s going for sale.
Body work is good as previously mentioned, is too good to of not been refreshed at some point with bright paint, good sills and arches and under the bonnet, good top plates. There are however some odd scratches and marks here and there with just the smallest trace of bubbles under the paint below the sticker on the tailgate. There are some marks on the roof but they are being professionally attended to prior to sale. The genuine “Pepper Pots” look to of been restored along with very good almost new tyres.
Inside you will see it has the cloth Recaro’s in good condition but the eagle eyed amongst you will spot that the driver’s seat is a passenger seat, fits perfectly but the adjuster and the lever to fold the seat back are on the inside, no problem to use and with the car is the original seat so you could use the material and bolsters of the one fitted to repair it, that’s if you can be bothered? Someone has managed to put their fingers through the very brittle grill on the dash and there are aftermarket door speakers been “fitted”. That plus the obligatory missing rear parcel shelf is otherwise it and certainly not a disgrace.
The V5 shows only three keepers in total, one from 83 to 87, then long term 87 to 2015 then onwards. The MOT history only shows an MOT in 2015 then recent one carried out September this year so it must have been off the road prior to 2015, I presume having the work done on it.
With the market for Fast Fords still defying the trend, prices of these great cars are still going up, this one for a good useable example with no rot, a year’s MOT and room to improve, is priced we feel, sensibly. Use as is or do the little bits and enjoy.
