This “cheap as chips” future classic 1997 BMW E36 has it all. Effectively one owner from new, it was the gents’ company car then at three years old he bought it from the leasing company. It has survived excellently while in his keep and comes with its BMW history then a stack of paperwork documenting all the work that has been carried out. This goes a long way to explaining just why this great little car drives so nicely.
With 165K on it the 1.8 litre engine still pulls cleanly, not fast but definitely nippy especially when aided by the 5 speed manual gear box this car has. The much sought after black leather interior, , part of the “SE” pack, is in excellent order and all four windows are electric and function correctly.
Body wise things are good, just the odd dink and the beginnings of some corrosion evident under the paint here and there, but certainly no disgrace considering its age and appears to all be original. Mechanically it has just received a small amount of work, suspension bushes and spring plus wiper blades so now has an MOT until October 2018.
If you are looking for a classic car that you can use all year round or as your first classic car, you cannot really go wrong with this one especially as the E36 BMW is ear marked as a definite future classic, with values now going up so grab a bargain while you still can.
