BMW E36 318is Rare 4 Door (1998)

BMW E36 318is Rare 4 Door (1998) £1,595

Not to be confused with the much more common “coupe” version, this lovely E36 318IS Saloon is a classic car in the waiting! With only a little over 1000 of these cars being made and only available here in the UK for 6 months or so. While the production lines were being prepared for the next generation, BMW (SA) produced the 4 door “IS” as a run out model, equipping it in the process with the much more sporty M44 1896cc DOHC 16 valve engine producing 140Hp against the normal 8 valve 115hp 1796cc motor and equipped the car with some nice extras a “M spec” parts.
Built in February 1998 and first registered in June of that year ,this particular car is even more unusual in that is in “Hellrot” red (the majority of these rare saloons were in green) and has survived more or less in its original condition, just an aftermarket stereo is all I can see that has changed. This is an extract from its build sheet and all these parts are present: Automatic stability control (ASC+T) Airbag for front passenger. Manually adjust steering column. BMW light alloy wheel, cross spoke. Bumpers completely in body colour. Window lifts electric front/rear. Sports seat. Interior mirror with automatic-dip. Headlight aim control. Automatic air conditioning. M Sports suspension. M sports steering wheel.
Body work has received attention over the years and apart from some slight fade on the roof and boot lid is in very good order. Interior is much the same, in very good condition throughout with just some very minor signs of use, it is the original interior that is now 20 years old don’t forget!
The lovely 16 valve motor fires up instantly with no nasty rattles and although with a genuine 150K on the clock, its service history (stamped till 127K then invoices etc after that) bears out how well this car has been maintained during its life. Mechanically all seems to be very good with a light clutch, smooth gearbox etc.
With the car are all of its owners books in their original wallet and even the BMW torch is in the glove box. There is a wedge of bills and invoices documenting the work carried out over the years and the current MOT expires 31st of October 2018.
A rare car that deserves to be continued to be looked after.
