Before we start let me first point out that this very attractive SM does require some paintwork. This we hope is more than reflected in the asking price with top condition cars now fetching £40k plus!
Never having been available in factory black, this particular car has been colour changed at some point in its life, prior to being sourced for its UK owner from Italy. While being rust free and very straight, the paint has suffered in places from the sun and from “storage” in its Italian and British owners garages. During this time it has picked up some scratches, worse of which is to the driver’s door and various nicks, plus some sun damage resulting in minor crazing in places. So if concerned to make nice you would need to rectify this. Having said that, if you’re not worried and just want the car to use, or as an investment, the paint polishes nicely and you could just leave it as is?
Its Interior has the desirable leather option which appears to be all original and needing not much more than a good feed as it has begun to go dry, but certainly in better condition than a lot and so nice to see it in its original state. Exterior stainless items are in very good order and all present, as are the lenses.
The engine fires straight up with no fuss or undue noises, just the usual huffing and puffing of all the pumps etc as the suspension does its thing. Settling into a nice even tick over as soon as warm. The manual gearbox selects nicely. The brakes? Well they work how only Citroen brakes can!
Originally supplied to its current owner to be part of his “eclectic” collection of cars and “hearses”, he is an undertaker, on arrival in to the UK and prior to him having it delivered the fuel injection system received new injectors as a precaution. It still had its original 1973 items and these are known to fail. It also had the alternator up-grade, new suspension spheres and a service. This was with a recorded 72900 kms on the odometer, it now has 72971 3 years later! An mot was carried out in 2017 as he felt he might want to start using the car, but with the onset of old age and living in the centre of London , he decided this was not such a good idea and it has again stood since then, recording a mere 69kms in the interim! Now he is selling up and moving abroad we have been tasked with offering all of his cars to the market.
Not currently MOT’d but now tax and MOT exempt, we would recommend some light recommissioning be carried out prior to use .
