Just arrived with us due to a bereavement, is this very nice low mileage example of what is fast becoming one of the most desirable but still affordable Mercedes on the classic car market today, a 1992 Mercedes 190E.
The last owner bought the car in 1998 and maintained it properly up to his passing. Unfortunately and as often the case, the entire owners pack cannot be found. So all we can say is apart from its general condition which speaks volumes, is the MOT register shows 52733 in 2005 with MOTs each year up to the last one in January this year at 86843. So no matter what, that is only 12000 miles in 13 years! One further nice thing is that in that period it did fail the odd MOT so that shows work done each time. All this does back the mileage up as being genuine but we cannot guarantee it.
Body work is very straight and 99% rust free, there are signs of some paintwork being done over the years but again the majority looks to be original and any work done would have been to maintain its looks rather than be left to deteriorate. Interior is very nice and in unusually good condition throughout. All electrics work as they should. Note: Heater blower noisy in use.
The 1800 petrol engine pulls surprisingly well helped along by a 5 speed manual gearbox and the comment by the gent that drove it here was “That drives blooming lovely!” so I guess that technical speak for “All good mechanically”. Again one thing worth noting though is that although the exhaust is not blowing, by the time it got here with us there is a rattle that sounds like a loose baffle or heat shield.
So all in all a lovely example of a 190E one that you can get in and enjoy as is and it will go up in value.
NOTE: Awaiting a valet so better pictures to follow.
