With values still on the way up it is unusual to find a Mercedes R129 SL at this price, let alone in this condition!
Offered on behalf of its owner, this very nice December 1994 Mercedes 280SL really does stand out from the crowd. Its bright red body work, complete with removable hard top, is nice and straight with a deep shine and very few marks. The contrasting black soft top it has is in good condition and fully operational (picture to follow) and its alloy wheels are in great shape.
With only just over 105K on the clock that nice 2.8 engine up front is barely run in and give an excellent blend of performance and economy with the weight saving over the big V8 motors translating into a more precise handling car.
The biscuit interior is nice but as usual the driver’s seat bolster will require some attention and the leather would benefit from a good feed. Past that the wood trims, carpers etc are in good order.
While mechanically the car is said to be ” Spot on” and the V5 and owners wallet are in hand, its service book has been lost. The on line MOT register shows 90,755 back in 2006 so it’s likely that, when coupled with its condition, the 105K on the clock is correct but this cannot be proved.
A service and MOT were carried out in June 2017 with very few miles covered since.
