With a production run of only 3 years, the 24 Valve version of Mercedes excellent 300CE, some say the last of the “proper Mercs” was always going to be rare. To find a January 1990 car in this sort of non-restored condition, is even more unusual! There is only one 1989 example showing on the DVLA records so this has to be the next to oldest one left.
Coming to us on sale for the owner unfortunately there is no service history, but check the MOT history on line and you will see this is no store it away and forget about it car, it has been constantly MOTd since records began so has been on the road all that time, so must have been up kept.
Now we are not claiming the car is mint, the body work while being almost rust free, does have the odd mark here and there and signs of some paint work from over the years plus the drivers door lock barrel and Mercedes Star are missing.
Inside the black leather is in lovely order with just a small faded, not worn through, patch on the drivers seat bolster, otherwise just a good feed would bring it back to excellent. Everything electrical apart from the r/h rear window and drivers “Butler belt” is working including the electric sun roof and driver seat.
Mechanically the engine fires with ease and the gear box etc does what Mercedes intended. With the added bonus of the extra Horse Power the 24 Valve set up gives, while not being a sports car, it gets down the road with some pace if required.
With a current MOT through to April, you could be happy enough just to sort out the couple of niggles and use as is, or it would be an excellent candidate to restore? With the way prices are going for these desirable and stylish “Coupes” the choice is yours.
