Not quite a classic but now definitely “retro” this 1.6 litre 5 speed manual 1998 Peugeot 306 “Meridian” has led a very sheltered life. This car was a one lady owner car from new until p/x’d into a Peugeot Citroen specialist at which point it came into us for storage. Unfortunately she did insist on the V5 being put into the dealers name, so now two registered keepers but if you check the MOT history you will see the gap and the lack of mileage covered in this time.
Still with only a genuine 48K on the clock the decision has been made to offer it for sale. A fresh MOT was carried out where one front spring was found to of failed so a new pair were fitted. The emissions were high at the first test, these had reduced by the time that the retest was carried out after a proper drive, so no more than to be expected after being driven by an elderly person then left standing.
Body work is very good with just a couple of very small marks, it is 21 years old. The interior is superb, never smoked in, seats that still feel like new when you sit in them and being a Meridian you get air conditioning, electric front windows, central locking, remote stereo controls, auto front screen wipers and rear wash wipe, all of which work (air con appears to work but hard to tell in these low temperatures). There are electric mirrors as well but although you can hear the motors working the mirrors do not move.
Coming with the car is a fully stamped up service history, owners hand books in their original wallet, another history file with all its old MOT certs., invoices including its original purchase invoice, an original paint “touch up” kit, the original Peugeot locking wheel nut kit and both its original keys complete with the supplying dealers tags that also match the front and rear number plates, so a full set.
On the road this car still drives like a car fresh of the production line and being the 1600cc version, is more than capable of keeping up with modern day traffic. So whether you are looking for a bit of “Retro” transport at an affordable price, a youngster looking for a car as a first foray into “classic” car ownership or a car to bring to show level, it’s well worth a look.
