We are proud to of been asked to market on behalf of its owner this superb 1959 Porsche 356T5 B.
If you are reading this I am sure you need no introduction, nor history lesson, on what has to be one of the most iconic and sought after cars ever produced, so let’s just talk about the actual car.
Produced and completed on the first of October 1959 and registered on the twenty-fifth of the following month by Porsche Car Pacific Inc. of California where it is believed to of stayed until being imported to the UK during the 70’s . It was then allowed to languish until around ten years ago when the job of restoring it back to its former glory fell to a well know specialist Restoration Company. This was not just going to be a “Customer led restoration” but was commissioned to be used, once finished, as a rolling showcase for the company which is what it did, completing trips to places like Classic Le Mans, Reims etc.
During this restoration process the body underwent a bare metal strip down that revealed a very good shell. Only the front clip and trunk floor required replacement, prior to it being resprayed in “Base Black” with clear coat. At the same time the running gear was removed, striped, cleaned, blasted, repainted and electroplated where needed, then refitted with new hardware and consumables.
The red leatherette interior parts were all in very good order and needed little more than a good clean while the carpets were renewed as were all the rubber seals. Chrome work was restored or replaced as required.
The engine, which is the original unit in this numbers matching car, was striped and rebuilt with replacement parts as necessary along with the carburettor. All other ancillary parts were stripped, painted, plated or replaced.
Where ever possible the car was kept to original and standard specifications and so apart from a colour change from its original “Heron Grey”, a 12 volt conversion plus the fitting of a front disc brake conversion, this is the case.
Sold in 2010 to its private owner/collector and covering few miles since, now only offered to market as he is reducing his collection of classic cars to be replaced by his other love, classic motorcycles. The car remains for the time being with its owner and genuinely interested buyers can be taken to view by appointment only.
