So think back. When was the last time you saw one of these, in fact when did you ever see a Renault 12 Estate?? That was my thoughts when the phone rang and a trade contact of ours said he had found one that had not only been stored in a dry garage for over a decade, but had only covered 40,000 kilometres ie 25000 miles and only had two owners from new!
This last year of production R12C was purchased new in May 1980 by an Englishman living in Lisbon Portugal, he kept it until selling it to another Englishman in 2002 who loaded it up and drove it home to the UK. He then parked it in his garage intending to register it here, but that is where it stayed!
Now after an oil and filter change and a new brake master cylinder it is back up running and driving. Condition wise the interior of the car is superb and apart from some staining on the roof lining needs no more than a light clean. Everything works in the car apart from the optional rear window wiper that was working but now appears to of seized ( we have disconnected it so as to cause no further damage). Exterior has had a paint at some time in the past and will polish up nicely. There are some vandal scratches, worse of which is on one door and an area of corrosion the lower corner of a rear door, probably started by someone opening it onto a low wall or the like. The chrome bumpers have some pitting but with some effort will still present well I am sure.
With the car and probably as rare to find, are the original owners hand book in English and Portuguese, its original bill of sale and even the P and O ticket showing its voyage home!
The asking price includes a full UK MOT and registration plus a professional clean, all of which we will carry out prior to the new owner collecting. However, we can offer it sold on its Portuguese papers not registered or cleaned so “as is”, for £500 less to aid non UK buyers or the person that likes to do this sort of thing themself.
