This 1994 Volvo 850T5 estate was found languishing at the back of a covered area behind a couple of other cars that a contact of mine had been invited to go and see with the view to purchase, having been parked there when it broke down years before. One of those “put it there and I will fix it sometime” kind of things. Never to be done just pushed further back behind the others that seemed to of met the same fate.
Bear in mind the last time it was MOTd was in 2006 with 131K miles on the clock, now still with only 133K 13 years later, back then these great estates were not that desirable and so people just scraped them when they became bothersome and just not worth repairing. If only we knew eh! And thank heavens some people just parked them up as prices today are massively up and survivors like this that are new to the market are highly sought after.
Now with a replacement fuel pump, new spark plugs, four tyres replaced and a quick wipe over ( will be valeted prior to sale) L67JBW is up and on his/hers toes again having survived miraculously well. Cosmetically just the black coating on the trim beside the front screen is beginning to lift, past that no damage other than a couple of scuffs on the lower corners of the bumpers. The rear hatch rams have gone soft and the rear lenses slightly opaque and of course being a Volvo of this era, no rust.
Inside is excellent with all the features a T5 came with working except the air con. I had a look and the air con compressor is not being driven so I would assume there was a problem there, the belt that was on there ( a shorter one) was badly cracked so that has been replaced. Otherwise all the electric seats, roof etc etc are working and as the car comes with a full history up to 112K in 2001 in the owners pack was its handbook complete with stereo code so that is working well too.
There will be a new MOT carried out along with a service for the new owner, plus a full valet as already mentioned.
