Rare to find, this UK spec 1979 Yamaha RD400 marked the end of a successful production run of what has fast become one of the most sought after bikes in the Japanese 2 Stroke market. The “79” came equipped with CDI ignition replacing the old points set up, for the first time, along with a couple of other minor detail changes.
This example is in lovely all round condition, while no its not a mint numbers matching bike but its not £10K either, it has obviously had a lot of time and money spent on it recently. Unfortunately it came with no invoices as the previous owner, a retired policeman, did the work himself so like us, you will have to judge it with your own eyes as to the high quality of work that has been carried out (its not hard to see).
Running sweetly and striking in its yellow paint contrasting with its black exhausts, wheels and fork legs, it could be taken to the next level by its next owner to show on a Sunday but really its asking to be just ridden and enjoyed. Prices are still massively on the up and bikes this clean will always be an investment as well as a pleasure to own.
